Ivor Lensworth Livingston,
Ph.D., M.P.H., C.H.E.S. is the Founder and President of the
StressHealth Institute International, or SHII, which was founded
in 1997. The main office is located in Olney,
Maryland, U.S.A., with affiliate offices in Lithonia, Georgia,
U.S.A., Missassauga, Ontario, Canada, and St. Andrew, Jamaica, West
Indies. Dr. Livi ngston has
presented
scholarly research papers and presented stress management
seminars and workshops in multinational corporations
overseas (e.g., J Wray & Nephew, Jamaica, West Indies). The
basic goal of SHII is to enhance human health and
performance, primarily in work or organizational settings, as
well as other areas of human activity (e.g., at schools, on the
road and in the pursuit of leisure, such as vacations). The
guiding philosophy of SHII is four-fold regarding stress and its
relationship to health, (1) to depart knowledge, (2) to change
perceptions, (3) to implement and practice good skills and (4)
to maintain the desirable thoughts and actions learned in order
to successfully manage daily stress and its side effects. These

Dr. Livingston, who successfully completed his educational
studies at three of the leading institutions in the United
States, Howard University (Ph.D. - with specializations in
Medical Sociology and Social Psychology), the School of Public
Health at Harvard University (M.P.H. - with a emphasis on the
Behavioral Sciences, Cardiovascular, Nutritional, Occupational
and Mental Health Epidemiology, Epidemiology, Biostatistics and
International Health) and the School of Hygiene at John Hopkins
University (Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Cardiovascular Social
Epidemiology), is a nationally and internationally known expert
on stress, stress management and the relationship of stress to
selected health conditions. He is also a Nationally Certified
Health Education Specialist (C.H.E.S.). As a stress, health manage- me nt and
resource consultant, he has been conducting research on stress
and writing about the stress-health relationship (e.g.
involving, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, cardiovascular
reactivity, diabetes and AIDS/HIV, etc.) for over fifteen years.
Dr. Livingston has written five books, two of which are on
stress and the others involving health and related
conditions in the United States. His latest book are entitled, "You
Don't Have To Be Over Stressed
All The The Time" and "Stress
Management 101 For College Students."
Dr. Livingston has presented
scholarly research papers and conducted stress management
seminars and workshops in the United States (e.g., in Baton
Rouge, Louisiana; Silver Spring, Maryland; Long Beach,
California; Lincoln, Nebraska; Roslyn, Virginia, Washington,
D.C.; and Honolulu, Hawaii), as well as overseas, mainly to
multinational corporations in the English-speaking Caribbean
(e.g., Jamaica).
